I must start this by saying that the illegal distribution of copyrighted material is punishable under current legal statutes.
Having said that I also believe that, as responsible citizens, we have the right to make informed decisions regarding how we live our lives.
The media conglomerates who are so up in arms about the P2P phenomenon should realise that the Genie is well and truly out of the lamp. No amount of sabre rattling will force it back in.
I, for one, am writing a novel which will be available as a free upload in installments. I'll be relying on advertising revenue that will, hopefully, be generated through its distribution.
However, it should also be noted that there are a lot of nefarious characters out there. Be careful what you wish for, or download. You wont always get what you're expecting. Viruses, trojans and seriously sick pornography are just some of the pitfalls to look out for.
